Did you know?
Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk gave his name to Great Suffolk Street after he bought a house and stables here in 1614 – this colourful character was a naval adventurer, commanding the ship the Golden Lion in the attack on the Spanish Armada; he also led the first search of the undercroft beneath the House of Lords which revealed the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 (yes, the Guy Fawkes one!)
